English as a Foreign Language

Learning a language is a natural skill which happens most effectively in a natural context. In Our World English Schools cultural, social and sporting events are designed to complement formal lessons, and since English is the common language students soon find their own motivation.

Our courses are designed to build confidence through clear and intensive classroom teaching in small groups of 10 on average (maximum 12). Students are streamed by ability at the beginning of the course and awarded a detailed report and certificate on departure as well as a course photograph. Our teachers design their courses to suit the individual needs of their students, using a range of course books and a textbook specially prepared for British Association schools. One to one consultancy is available outside the classroom at no extra charge.

English learning takes up 20 hours per week; in addition to formal language lessons (12 hours per week) there are also language activity sessions (see below) which encourage the development of oral skills (6 hours per week). Students complete a project or journal as a record of their stay and a focus for their written skills (2 hours per week, normally on Sunday mornings).
